Because I’m a personal trainer, have always enjoyed being active and managed to control my weight for most of my life, people are often shocked to learn how much I have struggled with food and how much weight I gained at different times in my life. I spent almost all my time and energy taking care of my family and others and didn't take time to recharge. It took over 5 years before I could start to get out of the depression I was in, the days filled with pain, and lose the weight I’d gained during that painful, dark time.
I lost years that I can never get back because I started to believe that it wasn’t important or necessary to take care of myself. Somewhere many of us have learned that taking time for our health is unnecessary and even selfish. We don't make it a priority or simply think we don't have the time. I hate to say it, but there are people a lot busier than you and me exercising and eating well right now.
